The quilting continues....

Boy this has been a long week.  I definitely haven't had the opportunity to sew/quilt as much as I'd like to.  Hope everyone out there has had better luck than me!!!

Also....don't forget if you haven't done so already, my cousin Jeni is having a give away....
http://jenifromthewillow.blogspot.com. It's a really cute penny rug that she's giving away...wish I could enter!!!

So I have been giving some thought to trying to do a little bit of video taping my quilting.  I thought if I have some success at this...I'd like to post once in a while a quilting pattern....What do you think...any interest?  Don't forget, you can do any free motion quilting designs on a domestic sewing machine.  You just have to move the fabric to make the design vs moving the longarm quilting machine.

Since I am using MonoPoly thread, I have been quilting with just the nature light from my window.  Only problem with that.....it's still winter and there's not a lot of daylight left once I get out of work.  Good news is I don't think I will have to work this weekend, so I may reach my goal of having this finished and off the machine Sunday night.  Our quilt guild meets on Monday and I was hoping to take it for show and tell....if not....I guess I'll just have a tell.

This is a repeat of what you have seen, but I wanted to show all my progress so far.  I'm not sure if it will show up in this picture, but I did an "E" design in the green log.  In the brown log next to that I did a square stipple.  It looks nice, but you really have to look, to see it.  The back will be more of the show piece of the quilting.  I haven't decided what I'm going to do in each log, so I moved on.....

I like this "s" curve.  it's real easy to do and you just go with the flow.  I am doing this in the gray that surrounds the three sided logs.  Hope you like it.

So my first attempt of a little video of a technique didn't post well here in my blog.  It just kept playing over and over and in a little box....so I guess I have to figure out this out.  However, if you want to see the video, I was able to post it on  my facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/tadaquilting.  Don't forget to like the page and join in on the fun!!!.

As you can see, I'm still keeping up with my "Hexie a day, keeps the doctor away"!!

Which brings  me to another item....I ordered the Daily Deal....couldn't help it...I think I have it already...but I didn't see it in my stash....  You know how I find things....Next time I start looking for something I lost (trust me, that will probably be tomorrow), I find the last thing I was looking for.  I couldn't find my Bonnie Hunter Leader and Ender's book...looked all over my sewing room for it.  Thought whatever...it's here somewhere.   Then I go to my sewing room days later to find something else.....poooof.......there's the leader enders book....it's hard being me some days!!  Here's a quote from my husband:  "Sometimes I spend 1/2 of my day watching you look for your stuff".

Anyways....back to why I was telling you about the Daily Deal....I bought that and 2 yards of my favorite Bella Solid from Moda....Fig Tree Wheat.  I decided I'd use that as my hexies background in between my rosettes!

Tomorrow is TGIF....hope to get home in the light of day and make some more progress!!  I have customer quilts and a charity quilt that need their turn on the machine!!

Happy Sewing!

  1. I'm enjoying seeing the steps to your completed project. I was also happy to see how light it was at 6:40 am not real happy to be awake at 6:40am but the days are getting longer and that means we are getting closer to Spring!
